Recently, one of my steemit followers asked me how I have the energy to do daily blogs.
Doesn't it get tiring to think of new things to write about everyday? he asked.
In all fairness, that is a viable concern.
And my response was, no, it does not get tiring.
Heck, it energizes me.
But you have to understand the WHY so you can internalize the thought process.
I don't only write because I want to become a better writer.
I write daily blogs because I want to become a better speaker.
'Huh?? How are the 2 connected?'
They are connected like Yin & Yang.
Your writing skills improve your speaking skills & your speaking skills improve your writing skills.
Cheatcode status.
The reason for this is because writing allows you to slow down your thoughts.
You are able to discover your voice & have a good understanding of what you stand for.
When you have developed a voice & know what resonates with you, then you are ready to take the stage.
'What if I am nervous?'
That's fine.
The nerves will melt away. In terms of public speaking, speech anxiety isn't that big in the grand scheme of things. It is just chapter 1.
But you want to know what is important?
'What?'
Your enthusiasm towards your topics.
I recommend all upcoming speakers to write so they can find out which topics generates genuine enthusiasm within them.
Enthusiasm is the electricity in your speech. Without it, you are just saying a bunch of empty words to your audience.
But with it? You hold their attention in the palm of your hands.
Since writing everyday for a year, I can talk about any of the 5 soft skills that I cover on my twitter & email list with ease.
And as I talk about these topics, I am able to connect the dots with other topics to think of new speech ideas.
My challenge to you is to write every day for 5-10 minutes. I recommend starting blogging using your steemit account to hold yourself accountable.
Have the correct mindset for your writing.
You are not writing to pass time.
You are writing to:
Discover your voice
Sharpen your speech
Understand what you stand for
Go from consumer -> producer mode.
After doing this habit everyday for a few months, you are going to feel less fog minded.
The less fog minded you feel, the sharper your mindset becomes.
A sharp mindset leads to clarified actions.
On AND off the stage.
