Pulp Prompt #1: Superheroes!

in pulprev •  7 years ago

Our hero, Derek, is a superbly fit, benevolent expert, influenced by the occult and the mysterious.

Finding a sustaining power in misfortune, he achieves a complete and permanent character transformation.

Opposing him, a weak, laser-wielding tradesman, subjected to adverse conditions (MacGuffin: It doesn’t matter what it does, but all the characters want it), who reverses certain opinions when her fallacy is revealed.

The villain's goal: Control a Treasure.

Setting: in the city red light district

Hook: News

Elements:

  • An orbital satellite capable of monitoring all major post-human activity.
  • A alien talisman granting cosmic power.
  • Uncanny power transfered to an innocent bystander.
  • A former assassin seeking redemption for past sins.

Prompt rules:

  • It's going to be weird. It's pulp! Embrace the oddity and the strange juxtapositions!

  • No, seriously, don't think too much about it. None of it is plausible; half of it isn't even possible. Just write!

  • Why are you still here? The deadline is on Monday! Get writing!

You give us a prompt,
You give us a deadline,
but I'm new to PulpRev and don't know the routine.
Post it with all or some or just one of the hashtags?

Word limit?
Will Prompt #2 make the next story continue from Prompt #1, or will it be something else entirely.... and do different PulpRev members post the weekly prompts?
Cool idea, anyway! Thanks for posting!
(Me, with the questions, always, so many questions)

I'm still figuring out what to do with this. I probably should have used a different first tag. Still learning the ropes here. :)

Oops - I just replied to Prompt #3, having forgotten that I already asked you these questions. Yes. I need to slow down and remember things I've already looked into.
I'm just curious where this might lead. Cool idea!
