Daily Devotional: "So that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault."

Jesus instructs his disciples to send them as missionaries of the Kingdom of God: "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.", Matthew 10:16. This is, shrewd to avoid cheating and innocent to avoid anger and strife. Paul takes up this teaching as one of the duties of the Christian life: "So that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain", Philippians 2:15-16.

The similar begets the similar, to be children of God in the bible, means to be conceived by the wisdom in a second birth, God is the wisdom itself:
"Jesus replied: ´Very truly I tell you, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again´.
´How can someone be born when they are old?´ Nicodemus asked.
´Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!´
Jesus answered: ´Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying: ´You must be born again´. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the spirit´". John 3:1-8
With Gnosis, the birth of the spirit the passions are extinguished, God is love without passion, that is why eternal life brings with it purity of heart. Paul is telling us that when we are pure in heart, that we are wise as God is wise, we shine like the stars.
