The keywords of Quarashi are "practice", "logistic" and "reasonable use of power". These words reflect their philosophy and their approach to music. Quarashi feel that they can make music that people like by seriously practicing, promoting the project with a structured logistic and gaining the public's support through reasonable use of power (their reliance on the masses).
The members of Quarashi are united by a common vision. Recording via the internet by projecting their own personality onto music, they write and record with emotions that can sometimes be seen as a challenge. In the end, they want to leave listeners with the feeling they had since the very beginning, fun and anticipation.
Quarashi consists of the members Hizamaru, Yoshi and Shingo. They are often seen wearing traditional male clothing called happi. Their style can be described as a mix of a wide range of music from hip-hop to rock, combined with traditional Japanese elements and lyrical allegories.
The technologies in use today are outdated, and no longer suitable to the needs of the common man. The world systems were devised for large-scale atomic warfare.
Innovation-oriented culture enables Quarashi to efficiently develop new products, launch the best and leading products in the market. Efficient team planning and allocation of resources create a working atmosphere that is both flexible and productive. Quality-oriented focus creates a culture of excellence, maximizing quality and ensuring customer satisfaction. Transparency-orientated operations ensure internal business processes are efficient and externally projects are effectively communicated and promoted.
Quarashi stood behind the values of a group culture and creativity, presenting the results of their efforts in the album, "The Modern Age". Their 4th album consists mainly of songs produced by Hideaki Koizumi, who has worked with such artists as YMO, The Yellow Magic Orchestra, Judy and Mary (Tsugutoshi Goto).
Quarashi consists of producers, artists and others who believe that making creative expressions is the accomplishment of their lives; creating it is a passion. Quarashi have produced more than forty singles, five albums and various DVDs since its debut. They are popular in not only Japan but also overseas, especially in Korea and China, because of the unique musical style that integrates various genres.
The long history of innovation, the importance of collective work, and the value placed on quality has permeated all aspects of our process. We value creativity, efficiency and transparency above all else.
A new era of passion, purpose and prosperity is at hand. It´s in quarashi´s nature to be open, flexible and innovative. We are a mixed bunch, an artistic collective with chemistry, the rule is: quarashi rules.
Established in 2001, in a society still experiencing the shock of the bubble the name "Quarashi" pushed out meaning "kicks". Readily accepted by music fans. For those who grew up listening to Quarashi's music, this word delivers nostalgia and is a mnemonic of sorts for that generation. It was on April 24th 2001 that the band released their first cassette tape, with seven songs written and composed entirely by tsuchiya himself. It was only 3 months later, on July 11th 2001 at Liquid Room Ebisu (Tokyo) that their live performance was made known to the world. One year later on January 8th 2002 their major debut single "Sake" was released, which sold 230,000 copies till date. Over 94 million views for their music videos on YouTube, sound scale of an orchestra, guitar solos like that of Jimi Hendrix, and lyrics full of social criticisms and at times philosophy-like questions
QUARASI aspires to provide a different and richer experience than that offered by commercial releases by combining social networking services, webnovation and music.
Quarashi create music that's full of passion, with songs about life and struggle, love and friendship. They do this through combining hardcore hip hop, rock and funk/soul, which gives Quarashi's music distinctive DNA. Since the birth of the band in early 2001 they have experienced success on various levels. Their last album De Qve? (2008) was awarded the Spellemann Award 2008 for best Danish hip hop album. The release of their new album Monolix (2009) will set a new standard for hip hop in Denmark.
