2)Weekly Q&A

This weekend, we held our fourth weekly Q&A session in our Chinese-English Telegram channels and WeChat group. This weekly Q&A session held one hour ahead of the scheduled time due to the time conflict with a scheduled meeting with the fans. Community members and the team members had pleasant interactions.

Here is the highlight Q&A we presented:

QuarkChain Fan: Why does QuarkChain team has the ability and be capable of working on Sharding Developing?

QuarkChain: I want to point out a common misunderstanding here. First, Sharding is not a new technology. Google and Facebook have used sharding in building decentralized networks/systems for a decent amount of years. Also, Sharding is just a general name for the type of database partitioning based on this concept; there are thousands of different technological approaches based on Sharding concept out there. Google and Facebook all have its way to participated Sharding, and it’s hard to judge which one is the best. One thing we can confirm is that all companies interested in Sharding are doing their best to work on this through the different lens and it is unclear for us to say which one would be our most ideal approach at this stage till we reach our set-up goals. And no doubt that our team is working on this with full speed. Speaking of Google and Facebook are the pioneers of Sharding, our team’s core developing engineers all have Google/Facebook working background, and their previous working experience was emphasizing on utilizing Sharding for handling database scalability to develop distributed systems. There might be some worries that our engineers are lack of expertise on some aspects of blockchain. However, they are definitely the experts in Sharding and Scalability, and if we said we are the rookies on this, no one would claim they have more experience than us on developing the distributed system. Thus, we do have confidence that we are capable for working on this job.

 II.   Development Progress

In the past week, the team worked on the wallet and explorer mostly. A list of JSON RPCs is added to support the frontend including getting balance, create a transaction, send signed transaction, lookup block, transaction, address, etc. The one hundred selected volunteers will be the first users of the wallet and explorer at the end of this month.

We also conducted load test with multiple clusters through which a few subtle bugs are causing data inconsistency are identified and fixed. Our goal is to provide a stable cluster network for the volunteers to play with.
