I think I would have had a fun career as a music supervisor if my first job in that world hadn't been for a toxic place. I could easily spend all day just doing needle drops... But fortunately I can always discover "new" stuff by just watching movies.
The new film Pain Hustlers, on Netflix, features an awesome Quincy Jones song I can't recall ever hearing before called "Money is", with vocals from Little Richard, which is from his 1971 Soundtrack to a film called Dollars (or simply "$").
The song is insanely good, unsurprisingly, but one of the nicest little elements is a recurring turnaround riff in the bass cribbed from Stevie Wonder's 1968 hit (and one of my all time favorite songs), "I Was Made to Love Her", featuring James Jamerson on bass, which I just love even more.
Subtle, but unmistakable.
The whole song is this great hidden gem.
Why does Quincy have to be 90? Legend.
