During the Monsoon Season convection can occur at any time of day or night depending on conditions. The most beautiful time of course is around sunset, but more often than not the light is blocked by clouds. This isolated early stage thunderstorm formed quickly in the late day heat, fully exposed to the setting sun. Revealing the nature of the storm.

I've seen this one before quite a few times but felt like leaving a comment anyways.. It's a truly epic shot! Wow.. Amazing how the cloud makes the mountains look small and there's so much going on. This location is easy to keep tabs on. I live down in the bottom center of the frame where you see the homes and drive by this spot whenever going to and from town which is 400' feet higher elevation. Also watching and waiting for many years. Ive been photographing the Sedona area for 21 years now and have lived here for almost 40. Thanks for the nice compliment.
