Mcdonalds for early coffee. Stayed to listen to two guys arguing religion and black history. One was adamant that our people had lost their way. Disconnected from their truth and history. Other man was sure that all the religions were false. And that the truth was in Africa. I listened then weighed in after 10 minutes. Told the guy who believed we had lost our way that we were aware now. Slavery took a toll on us but we survived and we know what's up. He kept arguing and sticking to his myopic point of view. Other man was just listening now and smiling. I couldn't help but laugh too.
Eventually I had wore out my welcome. Told the guy to have faith. Africa will rise once more. She is mineral rich and has the youngest population in the world. Still he kept to his negative point of view. I left them the same way I had met them. Deep in the struggle to define our people.
