Radioamateur contact with Rügen Island, Germany

Hello Steemit!

Today (2017.06.29) I turned on my transceiver (radio) and started making calling CQ on 7195 kHz.
The last time when I turned on and talked on the radio was 2017.06.20.
After a few calls, DL7VCD Claus responded to my call from Binz, Rügen Island (IOTA EU-057), Germany.

The contact was made on 10:53 UTC. 12:53 local (CET) time.

The band was very noisy on both sides mainly because of the weather.
Claus mentioned thunderstorm during our conversation. There was also a thunderstorm around my home not so long ago.
The distance between us is 925 km so we are not so far away from each other.

But making contacts with islands is always a unique and interesting thing for me.
Not just for me. A lot of people likes making contacts with islands.
There is an award programme called IOTA (Islands on the Air).
"An amateur radio award programme, encouraging radio amateurs to contact the world's islands" - A quote from RSGB IOTA.
More info can be found about IOTA at Wikipedia: Islands on the Air.

So this is what makes this QSO special. I like to collect islands on my amateur radio journey.
"Rügen is Germany's largest island by area. It is located off the Pomeranian coast in the Baltic Sea and belongs to the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania." - A quote from Wikipedia.
One of the beauties and the misteries of the amateur radio is that you don't know who will come back to your CQ call.
I didn't recorded any video or audio this time. This is just a simple story.
I hope you enjoyed it!
