Ramblewrite #2

January was a bit of a washout: I had two bouts of vertigo, the second one lasting a week and only departing after a visit to a physical therapist. Between the bouts of vertigo I somehow strained muscles in both shoulders. Three massages later, only minor pain remains.

February has not only turned into a big snowy mess, but has also featured the coldest weather we've had yet this winter. It has been snowing a great deal ( 33" in the past week), which leaves me feeling cooped up and restless. One would think I would have plenty of time to post on Steemit, but the endless snow leaking out of the sky manages to obliterate not only the landscape, but my creative brain cells as well.

Part of my brain is preoccupied with the upcoming surgeries of my husband and my youngest daughter. The latter will likely require only minor attention from me, since hers is not expected to be a major procedure, and she does not live at our house. The former will likely require a great deal of my time and energy for a few weeks, and he is a dreadful patient, so I am not looking forward to it at all.

Also, I am involved with costumes for yet another local theater production. The actors in this play are all age 14 and up, and a handful of them expressed interest in participating in the costuming process. Theoretically, I am just there to steer them and provide guidance when needed, but I can see there will be a few skirts to alter, and some of the actors will require a great deal of prodding.

Yet another item clogging my brain has been the need to find a different doctor, one who is in-network with our latest insurance. Monday I had my first appointment with the nurse practitioner who had been recommended to me by a relative. Today I had a fasting blood draw first thing in the morning. Knowing my veins are not very cooperative, I drank vast quantities of water yesterday and this morning. The phlebotomist was able to access my best vein on the first poke, but after filling two large tubes, the blood flow just stopped. So she tried four other veins before finding another good one from which to fill the last tube. I did my best to be good-natured about it, and she did her best to not hurt me any more than necessary. At least that's done.

Now I am looking forward to visiting my sister in Arizona early in March. Yes, I finally made up my mind to go! The nice lady at AAA figured out a reasonable flight and made the reservations for me. Hurrah! Now I just have to figure out what to take along; my sister says the weather could vary, so I need to be prepared for cool, warm, and hot.

Now that I have written all of that, I can see why my mind has felt so cluttered, and why I haven't been posting very often. I have a feeling my appearance here on Steemit may be hit or miss for quite some time.

THINK SPRING!!!

Vertigo is not fun. I have missed a lot of time here on Steemit due to those bouts. My brother gets them really bad and he ends up in the hospital. His last for 2 weeks. Sorry to hear about the upcoming surgeries for your husband and daughter and I wish them a speedy recovery.
HaHa! What you wrote about the snow was funny. All I want to do is lay in bed when it snows.
I am so happy that you are getting away to spend time with your sister. Safe travels and have a great time. : )
P.S. I have been thinking spring since last November. LOL!

Now that I've experienced vertigo, I have great sympathy for others who have it, too. Sorry to hear you and your brother are also plagued with it. Best wishes, and thanks for stopping by!

Same with me. I always say that you really don't know how a person feels until you have walked in their shoes. I am hoping that you won't have another episode. I went a whole year without one. Best wishes to you too.

I am being quiet too. Things are still complicated with outside issues. This week is a late shift (11:15-8:00 ) with an hour commute each way. I feel you with the winter. We haven't had all that snow, just bitter cold. I hate the cold. I'm glad PT helps, I loved my therapist.
Prayers for your daughter and husband and for you as you caregive him. It sounds like a vacation is well deserved, so enjoy..We we're in Parker, AZ last year in February and it was so cold. The week prior had been in the 80s!

Thank you for your kind words. I am hoping for warm weather in AZ! It has been cooler than usual there this winter, but even 50s would feel good to me.

Hugs! A year ago today I was at Dad's and it was 40 degrees and I was hoping to see the Grand Canyon in warm weather. We spent 20 minutes taking pictures in 32 degree weather and though it was glorious and breathtaking I was frozen and we left to see Las Vegas. Some day we will go back so I can enjoy a proper visit. Keep warm! @wordymouth reported snow there just yesterday in Vegas. Ick!! It is finally a bit above freezing here. I'm so over winter.

Ugh, your past month has been rather gray tinged, I am sorry to hear of all the tribulation, especially the vertigo and surgeries parts.

However, yay for escaping! I'll wave at you in the warm lands as we drive by, seeing how we will be in Arizona round that time too. Hope you have a ton of fun, you totally deserve it:)

Oh, I hope your trip goes fantastically!!
