Snow in Spring.
So here we go again, we now have another cold weather front hitting the United Kingdom with promises of snow over the weekend. Are we going to go into panic mode? Will the UK once again be able to survive the blanket of white stuff? Only time will tell, (well, to be exact the next 24-72 hours.).
The Met office has issued a whopping 13 weather warnings across the country (Fortunately no reds, but all amber alerts.) as this 'Mini Me' of the Beast of The East brings chilling Siberian winds across our little island. And although this is going to be a cold one, it's not as bad as its big brother that brought the UK to a standstill.
So what are we going to do differently?
Hopefully, lessons have been learnt, don't travel unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. If you do have to travel, make sure you have a survival kit with you, bottles of water, plenty of food, energy bars (Kendal Mintcake is a great choice!), make sure your mobile is charged, change of clothes, extra jackets and blankets, and throw it all in the boot.
And if you are not travelling, check on your elderly neighbours, or those that are vulnerable. And yes, we may experience power outages, so know where the candles are, if you have power banks, make sure they are fully charged, and make sure you have food that doesn't require cooking, keep bottled water in the fridge and in general, be prepared.
Will most people do this? Yes they will, but we will still have the minority of idiots who think they know better that will put a strain on our emergency and rescue services.
Just remember, keep warm, keep safe and don't be stupid.
