The Hunt : Is Over

I've never really had a home.

At the very beginning home was our house in the Philippines. Then we move to Australia and was at one stage living under someones house with my whole family my grandfather included.

I didnt have my own room until year 8 and that was in a unit we were renting in Hornsby back in the day.

Mum and Dad bought a house about a year later and that was home for a while until it wasn't (long long bitter story I might tell you guys about later).

Then I moved out, had a baby, relationship break down, moved back closer to Mum and Dad, more crap, more moving.

Then I met Hubby and then again more moving., until finally we moved up here. We lived in our almost "dream home" when we first came up, and we are in our "nightmare" house at the moment.

Despite that, the mountains still feel like home more than any other place than our old house in the Philippines.

The moment we came here it always felt like we belonged here.

The nearest ley line in NSW is going through Katoomba. It's no accident that we are here and our journey up and settling here had full support from all areas.

Our lives changed the moment we moved here.

Somebody pinch me!

A week ago we were stressed out to the max getting our legend of a conveyancer to go through the contract before we signed it and transfered the deposit.

Today I'm so relieved to say we have just been to meet with our Building and Pest Inspector at the house and he gave us the thumbs up.

Yes there are a couple of retaining wall issues that may need to be addressed in about 10 years but even if it failed now the house itself will remain where it is.

That's all we needed to know.

More pics of our forever home.

Now that the inspections are done we won't get to see this house until mid January so we took our fill of the views and proceeded to take more photos.

This reminded me of the Bad Reno house and the terraced steps they had there. Though I feel much safer walking here than the steep steps at Bad Reno.

A shot of the path from the stair leading up to the front door. Can you feel how high we are?

20171211_122642.jpg

The moment we walked in the house I went straight to the kitchen.

I didn't actually walk into the kitchen at the first inspection and we put an offer in without knowing if it had an oven or not. Imagine how pleased I was to see that it did have an oven.

20171211_120310.jpg

It was a deceptively roomy kitchen. Though I would love more bench space but that's easily fixed.

20171211_120327.jpg

Of course I couldn't walk through this house without taking a photo of the money shot and thinking that tree has to go. Not only is it blocking my view its also so close to the house it's just not safe as per the 10/50 rule we have up here.

To give you scope of our view...

If you can see the brown handrail from the top photo...

That's the same handrail as the photo below and goes right along the side of the house.

20171211_121714.jpg

And all along the side of the property, over 1000sqm worth which was our target size.

20171211_123351.jpg

Then what's even more amazing is half our backyard is flat. The only photo I took that showed both sides is the very first photo at the top so here it is again 😊

20171211_120357.jpg

Here's the flat bit from the other end of the property.

Here's the slope bit.

But this is one of the biggest selling points of this house.

20171203_132243.jpg

A place for either a self contained apartment/man cave.

It's amazing how this house has delievered almost our entire wish list. Sure I don't have an ensuite but Ill happily swap it for the 180 degree views we have at this house. Sure it's a filtered 180 but still, everywhere you walk on this property there's a view to the right.

We only have 1 true neighbor and he's halfway down his 2000 something sqm block. Everyone else is below us.

I took more view shots (all from the back yard) hoping this will sustain me throughout the next couple of weeks.

I'm hoping everything goes smoothly from here on in and we'll be able to move in to our house on schedule or early in Jan next year.

I'm looking forward to sitting on that deck with that view before me as I write the day's Steemit post.

Dreams do come true people.
Keep dreaming big 🌟

Wow. . @bearone your new house was great like country living

Thank you @jaycee7viral :)

You have a beautiful spot picked out - I know you are going to love it. We spend many trips looking for the perfect place and we have a gorgeous spot picked out and bought - we just need to be able to tie up all of our affairs and move out there - will probably be several years - in the meantime, we plan to put in the infrastructure like roads, septic and well. We start with the roads next year.

Let me know if your one true neighbor decides to put their property up in the market. Haha

Hahah I will. But I don't know if that guy has a view, he could at the back, but he'll lose what he gets from our side when we put a proper fence up :D

Nice place, let me visit? Ahahaha

Yeh! Go with @SteemPh when they come over!

Sure sure hehe!

give you scope of our view

Yay yay yay, you finally found it!!! I'm so happy for you. That view is just beautiful. I'm so jealous of that deck. It looks so peaceful!! Congratulations Hun.

Yay!!!!!! Thanks so much lovely!!! Yall should come down! <3 We'll have drinks on that deck and enjoy life <3

Oh that would be so nice! Drinks would be fantastic!!!

It looks lovely.

I lived at my mom's until I met Frank (husband) and then moved in with him, but it was his house that he'd had with his ex (mother of his kids). And even if being at mom's was technically like being home, it's home, but it wasn't MY home.

I found our new home a year and a half ago and I chose it before Frank even saw it. And we fell in love with it. The energy is amazing and I feel so good and my healing has sky rocketed since we've been here.

It's such an amazing feeling when you find a home that feel like yours and you just feel good. I'm so happy you've found your home!

@binkyprod

my healing has sky rocketed since we've been here

I believe that! It's amazing how being in the right space/environment makes all the difference.

It's so true when they say you'll know it's your house when you see it. There had been 2 other inspections by the time we got there (3rd day lucky!) and people were already umming and ahhhing about it until we came in and snapped it up immediately. Half an hour after the inspection we placed an offer above asking lol

I'm so glad you have found your haven too <3 It must have been amazing the day you moved in :)

Oh yes, it was. When we first visited, we made an offer that week that was refused because the guy was stuck on his asking price. And that was in early March, and the house remained available, despite others showing interest, and by end/mid June, our second offer was accepted. Our agent negotiated both the guy selling to go a bit lower and my husband to go a bit higher. The house stayed available and no one else had made any offers. We were the only ones. It was meant to be. We moved in at the end of July, not this past one, the one before. One of the best days ever!

Congrats this is a beautiful hose that will soon be your home!

Thanks man!!! ❤

Your green space is absolutely amazing! Perfect porch for enjoying a cup of coffee ❤️

Thanks honey!! It'd be lovely to be out there with a drink enjoying the view 😊

wohhh it's really amazing place to live... I read your full story
and got little bit hurt for you... Because you struggled to survive
in this world... I think most of peoples in this word is struggling in their life for different different circumstances... None of this is real happy in this world.. So now you are happy.. That's a good news for me also as a steemit family member... Best of luck my friend... Be happy forever.....

Thank you @sujanbarua1. I agree so many struggle in this world in their own way. It's great to be at this stage of my life considering Im not getting any younger. Much love to you my friend ❤

Congratulations! We are on the same boat, after months of searching we finally found a perfect house as well, it’s a spot on location, and the price is lower than expected, its a win win situation for us! Im happy and excited for you! We are moving 2nd week of January

Yay!!!! Congratulations to you too! Thats amazing! It sound perfect. You didnt move at the foot of Mt Shasta did u? 😉

So you guys bought during Mercury Retrograde too eh. How are u finding everything?

Hi @bearone, we we didn’t move to Mt Shasta or Sedona ARizona but me and my wife move like 6 minutes drive from work And my daughters school is 5 minutes walking distance away. With the mercury Retrograde, some things got delayed but overall still going by the scheduled closing date.

Congratulations! Your post made this weeks #1 Post in the Top 5 Real Estate Posts on Steemit This Week .

Keep up the good work!

Wow looks like an amazing place! Congrats on finally finding your forever home, it was quite the search. PS I'm so sorry I'm so damn behind on checking out your blogs.

That's amazing! Congrats! I've never thought about buying a home because I want to make sure it's under the right circumstances, where it doesn't add much pressure to my life that I'm not ready to handle or in some unfavorable location. Hopefully I will get there soon enough. Your house is beautiful!

Thank you! :) Buying a house is a huge deal. We're pretty much in debt for the next 30 years, but if we didn't buy now we'd never buy. The property market in Sydney is insane and everything has been rising - it was now or never. We did get extremely lucky to buy land before the boom and sold it just before the boom finished, and now we bought our house during a buyers market.

If you can, watch the market and look for cheap land in a location you know has some development coming and but what you can. But you have to watch it.

I watched the Blue Mountains markets for a year before we moved, and another year before we bought and I knew no matter what the prices up here is going up and going up fast.

There are places I've started eying but I'd need to do really well in crypto which I've only started on steemit since I have nothing else to invest.

I hope it will look more realistic in the coming months and years!
