Week 35 (April 2019)
Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!
End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.
On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!
Domains Recently Developed
Alright, so today I've got 3 more domains that were recently sold (all near the end of February) that have since their sale been developed. Today is a handful of oddities. We've got a blog on a domain that nearly sold for 5 figures?! A company exact match domain that is being forwarded to a lesser quality domain name?! And a very weird app that I'll save until last... Enjoy!
Demotix.com

The first domain is Demotix.com. This domain sold for $9,400 dollars at GoDaddy on February 23rd, 2019. The site up is a blog / online magazine site of sorts, which is fine but I'm a bit blown away at that sticker price for this domain only to end up being used as a blog type site. Seems a bit crazy to me!
Speaking solely of the domain, Demotix.com, I'm not a big fan. It's brandable and short but just doesn't do it for me. I imagine that the main reason it sold for so much was that the name has been used in the past as a photo agency and probably still has some name recognition as well as traffic.
HostBill.com
![042419-2.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/640x0/https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmYFA7QQHPReupRCtaCdZe1umzU5RsnqWa1HMC7rtpJvyk/042419-2.jpg)
Next we have HostBill.com. This domain sold for $850 dollars at NameJet on February 23rd, 2019. Currently the domain redirects to hostbillapp.com which is a company offering software for the web hosting industry. I don't understand buying the exact match of your company name and not immediately using it. Why redirect it to the lesser quality name?
As for the domain, I like this domain. It's a solid 2 word .com that's descriptive of what the product is and is an exact match of the company. It's the perfect domain for this company and a HUGE upgrade over hostbillapp.com. Hopefully they realize this soon and make the previous domain redirect to this new one.
DownToShop.com
![042419-3.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/640x0/https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmb21c8zPEzJQ3BPnxerQK2kCSkWELawyQ75BpGxkw4DUH/042419-3.jpg)
Finally, we have DownToShop.com. This domain sold for $3,753 dollars at GoDaddy on February 25th, 2019. The site at the domain is promoting a bizarre shopping app... seriously check it out for yourself (downtoshop.com) I have no idea what this even is.
The domain is an exact match of the app's name so that's good. It's 3 words, but short words so the length is tolerable. All in all, it's an okay domain.
That concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
