Honey Breakfast Buns
Ingredients
For your honey glaze:
quarter cup butter, room temperature
half cup brown sugar
one cup honey
quarter teaspoon mustard powder
For your buns:
one to two tablespoons oil
one pound breakfast sausage, casings eliminated
Salt and pepper to your liking
one roll of pizza dough (about a pound)
one and half cups cheddar cheese
Sliced scallions for garnish
Instructions:
In a dish, whip butter, brown sugar, honey and mustard powder together. Set aside.
Heat a large sized pan, drizzle with a touch of oil, and cook breakfast sausage till brown. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside to cool a bit.
Unroll pizza dough and, leaving about a half-inch border, slather with quarter cup of the glaze, sprinkle with half cup of cheese, put sausage and another half cup of cheese. Roll from one long side to the other.
Chill for five to ten minutes in the freezer before slicing, seam side down, into one to two inch pieces. Fill remaining glaze on the bottom of prepared pan and pop 'buns'onto the glaze, slice side down.
Wrap with foil and bake for thirty minutes, then eliminate foil and bake for another twenty to thirty minutes. Sprinkle with more cheese if desired.
Chill a bit before turning over onto a plate.
