Japanese people love miso soup. We have this hearty traditional soup almost everyday. The base of miso soup is fish stock, and the savory flavor is added with a spoonful of miso paste. You can add various thing in your miso soup. I like adding lots of vegetables, seaweeds, tofu and sometimes fish or meat. Miso soup is a very good example of comforting Japanese food that contain low calories and yet is very healthy.
Here's a simple version of miso soup recipe I'd like people to try, as this is incredibly delicious. Enjoy!
Serves 2
400ml fish stock
2 tbsp miso paste
1/2 cup tofu cut in small cubes
1/4 cup green onion
Place fish stock in a medium sauce pan and bring to a low simmer
Add tofu and simmer for 3 minutes
Add 2tbsp of miso into the pan and stir until smooth
Add 1/4 cup of chopped green onion
