Especially in Chinese and Mediterranean cuisine, lemon chicken is a well-liked dish. Although the dish has various variations, in most cases it consists of chicken pieces that are marinated in a mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, herbs, and spices before being cooked till soft and tasty. There are numerous sides that can be offered with the dish, including rice, veggies, and salad.
Ingredients:
500 grams boneless chicken
2 tablespoons cornflour
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1 egg
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 green chillies, sliced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper powder
1 teaspoon red chilli flakes
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions:
Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and wash them thoroughly.
In a mixing bowl, add the cornflour, all-purpose flour, ginger paste, garlic paste, egg, and salt. Mix everything well to form a smooth batter.
Add the chicken pieces to the batter and coat them well. Keep the chicken aside for 10-15 minutes.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces to the pan and fry until golden brown. Remove the fried chicken and place it on a kitchen towel to absorb any excess oil.
In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add chopped onion, green bell pepper, and green chillies to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
Add soy sauce, lemon juice, sugar, black pepper powder, and red chilli flakes to the pan. Mix everything well.
Add the fried chicken to the pan and toss it well with the sauce.
Garnish with sesame seeds (optional) and serve hot.
