Here is how to make the famous drink 'Vesper Martini' as described in the 1953 book, which James Bond orders in both the movie & the book Casino Royale. The recipe for the James Bond's "Vesper" Martini as described in the actual 1953 book is
You need 3 measures of Gordon's Gin,
1 of vodka
Half a measure of Kina Lillet
& Then Shake it very well until it's ice-cold & then you need to just add a
large thin slice of lemon peel
Now the actual recipe for the James Bond's "Vesper" Martini described in the 2006 movie is slightly different.
It is 3 measures of Gordon's Gin,
1 of vodka,
half a measure of Kina Lillet.
Then Shake it over ice, & then you must add a thin slice of lemon peel :)
The green bottle of Gordon's Gin is only sold in the United Kingdom & the transparent bottle is sold in the rest of the world.
Now you need to know that Kina Lillet is Now Called Lillet & it is a little hard to find in your regular stores however you can easily buy it online at either at Amazon, TheDrinkShop.com or TheWhiskyExchange
The actual brand of Vodka used has Not been specified in the novel or in the movie
but both Stolichnaya & Smirnoff have a very strong James Bond connection.
Now if you want to make this drink for yourself or for you & your Bond Girl then you HAVE To Make Sure You Mix All The Ingredients, Strain, & Serve them in a Chilled Cocktail Glass,
VERY important!
Then Garnish with a very large thin slice of lemon peel.

It's a great cocktail. But the main problem is the lillet... When they stopped making Kina lillet they took out the quinine, which gave it a nice bitter edge... So, even if you make it today, with lillet blanc-- it's just not the same! Great post @stillsafe CHEERS!
