Interesting, I like to stop and consider things like this on occasion - I love just browsing categories and coming across posts like this..
...I'm thinking personal branding is really about buying you some influence with those whom you are getting 'buy in?' from... and its that brand strength that increases your influence on your target audience...with which you can use or even exploit for other purposes.
I'm not very good at consciously building a personal brand, I guess I've tried a little bit on Steemit (but find I just want to be myself and not...put it on), but I'm a bit introvert and don't like heaps of attention (the unfortunate result is my follower count has stalled)... Instead I've tried to build a small community with the steemit game community though IBT (IBT is a fun little game I created on here with contributions from players and people I meet on Steemit. The players themselve donate the prizes etc and the results of the earnings of the prizes makes its way back to the players in various forms). Problem is its not very professional and thus the brand is probably consided weak by many ..hehe who knows.
Anyways, thanks for the thought provoking post.
Cheers
