Many blogs also provide facts, reasons to use InstaStory, pro-tips, ways to manage important aspects of InstaStory activity, how it can affect your brand engagement, etc.

Analysis of InstaStory by Iconosquare

Iconosquare monitored the growth in the engagement of 30 top brands which used Stories, in comparison to the growth in the engagement of another 30 top brands which used the feature hardly ever or did not at all for a period of 7 weeks (4 weeks before the release of stories and 3 weeks following). Here is the report –

Within 3 weeks, a massive decrease in engagement was noticed – dropping from 1.11% to 0.94% - which is a decrease of 15% approximately. Because of this decrease, it is expected that the level of engagement on traditional posts will continue to fall because users are giving their attention to stories.

Some suggestion –

  1. Don’t ‘story’ that which you want to upload –Instagram is not measurable as compared to Snap chat where you can get 100+ screenshots. So, it is not a good thing.

Reason –Snap chat has rolled out a new feature – ‘forwarding snaps’. This allows the audiences to forward snaps as soon as they see them. While on InstaStory, they can just screenshot and forward through what’s App. The main problem here is it builds excitement in audiences at that moment only and when you end up posting it, it will hard to get organic engagement.

  1. Focus on ordinary stuff for ‘Story’ and upload the exciting, interesting stuff, like a restaurant. Just show your audience how the interiors look, menu and a bevy of dishes.

  2. What to snap – can snap cake? When snapping, be strategic because it is a question of engagement.

  3. Don’t overdo click bait on your story every time–Comment like ‘guys check what I just uploaded’, ‘guys see the delicious drink I had’, ‘guys just uploaded my pics’, etc. Doing this can bore your followers.
