Why has science become politicized?

Science is a deep dive into the darkness, motivated by the hope of find some light at the end. The main purpose of scientific research is to make discoveries about ourselves and the world that surround us. In order to achieve that goal is necessary intellectual honesty, which means that you have to be willing to challenge your believes and accept the possibility of been wrong.
But why some many scientist today don't acknowledge their bias, and try to pose their believes and ideologies as science? Why so often in the social sciences we see the so call "scientist" denying the truth?
I think that what make that happen is firstly and foremost the increase in the importance of science in our lives, because that make the scientific knowledge association with power more appealing, and second our biological necessity to search for comfort through easy trues.
To sum up the hard question is: How Do we stop this nonsense?
In order to keep politics and hurt feelings away from science we need to do what we naturally do when we want to preserve something precious, we keep it under surveillance, we point the mistakes when we see one and use rigor and discipline to try to preserve the virtues of the scientific method. That is a task that demands time, energy, discernment and above all else honesty.

I blame Auguste Compte, the "father" of social science. In reality there is no such thing as social science. Science requires rigid standards that cannot exist in social sciences. This was only a hiccup to Compte, whose plan was to see that someday social sciences would eclipse the hard sciences in importance. Looks like he got his wish.
