Difference between sleep and prayer.
اصلت كيرن مننوم.
Transliteration: Asolatu, kairun, mina naum.
Translation: Solat/Prayer is far better than sleeping.
It's so simple, it's like a logic though......
What's the similarities between praying and sleeping?
The both works together, it works the mind and soul.
Sleep: Before you sleep, it's your mind that directs you to do so, and you can decide whether to, or whether not to, and when are already asleep, your soul is the one in action, because it's gone far away.
Pray: Before you pray, you hear the adhan/call for prayer, then automatically your mind tells you it's time for prayer, then it's left for you to decide whether to go pray or not, and when you're in the act praying it's your soul that's in action.
Now let's talk about the differences
Praying and sleeping work with the body with the mind and the soul but the way it works differ.
Islamicaly, by sleeping, you get a reward for it and when you pray you also get a reward for it...
But your sleep is worthless when you wake and you don't bother to pray, even after hearing the Adhan/call for prayer.
SLEEPING: When you sleep you don't know what is going on, your soul is far gone, you're not different from a dead person.
In fact you're dead, you were just been given the grace to come back to life, and you should thank God for the grace you're given, because if you don't then you slept for nothing.
Sleeping is another way if worshipping God.
When a Non religious person sleeps, he wakes up anytime he likes, do whatever he likes whenever he wants, and commit different sins without thinking twice.
Sleeping is like answering God's call of the body and it's also a medium to ease the body and mind, prepare and reboot you for another day.
Gather you up for the next tax ahead you
PRAYER: When you pray, you equally don't know what is going on behind you and whatever passes in front of you shouldn't be your concern because you soul is far gone in the spirit.
The difference is this, when you sleep, you just sleep and get reward as long as you'll wake up and remember the God who created you, but prayer doesn't work that way, prayer washes your mind and soul, it cleanse it, prepare you for the end/death because it comes at anytime.
You get reward for the intent to pray even when you've not already, the attempt alone invites reward, the Wudh/Ablution gets you reward if its properly done, the Nawafils you do fetches you reward let alone the main Solat/Prayer.
You get Seven(7) times reward for praying in a mosque and multiple rewards for praying in congregation...
All this rewards cannot be gotten when you sleep, it can only be gotten through prayer and good intent.
A person who sleeps hoping to wake up and pray will definitely get a reward for that thought, because that's the reward for the sleep already, but a person who sleeps and wake without worshipping gets nothing.
Another strong difference is that: - - Every body can sleep and most sleep, so the Mumin/Muminat does sleep likewise the Kafr/unbelievers do too, because they don't have a choice.
- Everybody can pray and most pray, so the Mumin/Muminat does pray, but the Kafr/unbelievers does not, because they do have a choice, they don't get punished instantly for not praying, so they decide not to.
Some may even say they'll change later in future, meanwhile it may be too late then.
With the little I've shared, I hope I've been able to differentiate between sleeping and praying....
