I'm by no means an expert on theology, but isn't there a decent chance much of the Bible (if not all) is an allegory? I've recently gotten into reading about the occult and esotericism, which may seem daunting topics at first glance, but I think could be good to get into - it put things in perspective for me; and it got me interested in philosophy, mysticism, meditation and spirituality. :)
