Luke 3:18‭-‬38 NKJV

TOPIC: REBUKING EVIL UNDER GOD

MESSAGE

In Luke 3:19-20, John the Baptist criticized Herod Antipas for divorcing his wife and marrying Herodias the wife of his half brother. For condemning evil, Herod imprisoned John and later had him executed (Mk 6:16-29). People should amend their ways in the light of John the Baptist's exhortation. Men in authority should receive divine rebuke in good faith. Rulers should fear God. The church is not a hiding place for evil men, therefore every church member should bear fruit worthy of repentance. Like the Baptist and Prophet Nathan (2 Sam 12:1–9), priests and ministers of God should have the courage and boldness to condemn evil from any quarters.
In Luke 3:21b, as Jesus prayed, the heavens opened. Heavens still open today, turning things around for the better but only when the needful is done – pressing into the inner court of God’s presence with persistent prayers and diligent obedience to divine injunction. The likes of Herod Antipas, without conscience and fear of God, abound in our societies today. God needs warriors who can stand in the gap and deliver the souls of such men. Can you enlist into this squad today?

Prayer: Open my eyes, O! God, to the needs of the hour and strengthen me to fight for righteousness in my community.
