Answer: Acts 13:38 states, "Take, brethren, a knowledge that a remission of sins is preached unto you through this [Jesus]."

What is forgiveness and why do I need it?

The word "forgiveness" means to clear the account, forgive or cancel the debt. When we offend someone, we seek their forgiveness for the relationship to be restored. Forgiveness is not given because someone deserves to be forgiven. No one deserves to be forgiven. Forgiveness is an act of love, mercy, and grace. Forgiveness is a decision not to keep anything against another person, despite what you have done to him.

The Bible tells us that we all need God's forgiveness. We have all committed sin. Ecclesiastes 7:20 proclaims, "There is no righteous man on the face of the earth who does good and does not sin." 1 John 1:8 says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves; Truth is not in us." In the end all sin is against God (Psalm 51:4). Therefore, we desperately need God's forgiveness. If our sins are not forgiven, we will spend eternity suffering the consequences of our sins (Matthew 25:46, John 3:36).

Forgiveness - How can I get it?

Thank God, He is kind and merciful - ready to forgive us for our sins! 2 Peter 3:9 tells us, "He is longsuffering to you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God desires to forgive us, so He has provided for our forgiveness.

The only just punishment for our sins is death. The first part of Romans 6:23 states: "For the wages of sin is death ..." Eternal death is the wages we deserve for our sins. God, in His perfect plan, became a human being - Jesus Christ (John 1:1,14). Jesus died on the cross, paying the price we deserved to pay death. 2 Corinthians 5:21 teaches us that: "He who knew no sin made Him to be sin for us; That in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. "Jesus died on the cross, bearing the punishment we deserve! As God, the death of Jesus provided forgiveness for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2 proclaims, "And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for our own sake, but also for the whole world." Jesus rose from the dead, proclaiming His victory over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:1-28). Thank God for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The second part of Romans 6:23 is also true: "... but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Do you want to have your sins forgiven? Have you felt the burden of guilt that simply does not go away? Forgiveness of your sins is available to you if you just place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior. Ephesians 1:7 says, "In whom we have redemption through His blood the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace." Jesus paid our debt for us so we could be forgiven - and He will forgive you! John 3:16-17 contains this wonderful message: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent His Son into the world, not that He should judge the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

Forgiveness - Is it really that easy?

Yes, it really is! You can not earn God's forgiveness. You can not pay for the forgiveness of your sins against God. You can only receive it, by faith, through the grace and mercy of God. If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and receive God's forgiveness, here is a prayer you can do. Doing this prayer or any other prayer is not able to save you. Just trusting in Jesus Christ can provide forgiveness for your sins. "God, I know that I have sinned against You and deserve punishment. But Jesus Christ has taken the punishment I deserve so that through faith in Him I may be forgiven. I abandon my sin and place my trust in You for my salvation. I thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness! Amen!"

I don't want 'God's' Forgiveness. I want public/self empathy to go with my endless self esteem.

Just wanted to apologise for the offencive nature of this comment. This doesn't contribute anything worthwhile to the conversation or to even the above content. My Apologies.

Your absolutely correct, for by grace are we saved through Christ Jesus:
Eph2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
I always tell people that you always hear of John 3:16, but you should read and understand 3:14 -And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
It's refers to when Moses was in the desert, God was repentant of the sins that the people were doing so he sent serpents, and the people were dying, Moses prayed and God answered him to make a serpent out of bronze and all that would look upon it, would be saved, to believe and trust.
Our righteousness is not Gods righteousness,
Isaiah 64:6- 6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags
