@odsam2 please know that the main reason to live a righteous life is to Glorify God Almighty.

To live in righteousness,we should know that after receiving salvation,we are new creation.
Old things have passed away.(2 Corinthians 5:17)

Do not be a slave to sin(Romans 6:6)
and count yourself dead to sin(Romans 6:11)

Be obedient to God(1 Peter 1:14-7)

Hide God's word in your heart(Psalm 119:11)

Offer your body as living sacrifice to stay away from evil(Romans 12:1-2)

Believe in the promise of God(1 John 4:4)
Because satan's goal is to get us back into bondage after receiving salvation.

Be in a Fellowship with other Christians in Christ.
