First of all I would like to point out the very first thing that comes into mind regarding testing platforms:

Is TestBirds A Usability Testing Scam?
  • Usability Testing at TestBirds is not a scam; there are reviews across  the internet with all good things to say about this site and include  payment proof.
  • One of the advantages of Testbirds is that they take complete beginners and that they  let you take tests on your smartphone.
  • As long as you know the income you can make testing website and apps at  TestBirds is just extra income; you should be pretty happy as a member.
  • If you’re an experienced tester that completes advanced tests I left you  out of this review but from what I’ve heard TestBirds is a perfect place for advanced testers as well.
 What Is Usability Testing?
  • If you’re not familiar with Usability Testing, it’s viewing a  website, completing some tasks, and giving your opinion about the site.
  • For your time you’re paid cash.
  • Now, some of the jobs on TestBirds get  into much more detail, but that’s the basic process of usability  testing.
  • If you’re experienced, you can also find bugs and test  apps, video games, and much more.
  • It all depends on your ability level,  but know that there’s very basic tests that almost anyone can complete.
 TestBirds Complaints
  • I’ve seen a few sites out there that are promoting TestBirds as a larger  income than it is. You should know that beginners can’t turn this into a  full-time or substantial income.
  • The main reason is that there’re not  enough tests to complete. You’d need 15-20 tests to put in a full day of  work with this site, but there might only be a few tests a week.
  • Also, some tests do pay €50, but it looks like most beginner tests are  around €10.
  • It’s going to take you a ton of tests at €10 to build a  full-time income.
 How Much Does TestBirds Pay?
  • Most tests pay from €8-€50. Most beginner tests will pay around €10.
  • More difficult tests pay higher. Most  of the beginner tests will take around 20-30 minutes, with some of the  most advanced tests taking much longer.
  • *Based on other  usability testing websites, most pay around €10 for a 20-minute test.
  • So  TestBirds is right around the industry standard for most beginning  testers.
 Joining and How It Works
  • Pretty much anyone can create an account at TestBirds, but before you  can complete tests, you’ll need to pass their test.
  • The beginners test is incredibly easy and they give you some  pointers on what they expect before you start the test.
  • Once you’ve passed the test, you’ll need to add what devices you’d  like to take tests on.
  • Once you’re done, you’ll start to receive test  notifications from TestBirds.
  • You DO NOT have to complete every test if you don´t want.
  • You can review each test, see the requirements and payment before  accepting it.
  • If you don’t have the time, just ignore the test,  but if you’d like to complete it, accept the test and complete it within  24 hours.
  • Once you’re done, your test us reviewed and payment is  released.

TestBirds Requirements
  • You already know that any skill level can join TestBirds, this means  complete beginners or experienced app testers.
  • You will need to pass a  test before any projects are available.
  • TestBirds is  available in most countries and nearly any age is accepted (parental  consistent is required).
  • The only other requirement is having at  least a computer or smartphone if you have both even better.
  • Some tests  might require you to have a webcam.
 What are Experience Points (EPs)?
  • As a Bird you receive points for different actions that reflect your  experience as a tester.
  • When you are newly "hatched", you get one-time  points for your first steps.
  • By registering your first device,  successfully completing tests, finding bugs or taking Bird School  quizzes you can increase your points.
  • The amount of experience points  you get depends on the quality of what you submit.
  • If the Birdmasters  need you to revise your reports and Bugs, they have to give you fewer  EPs.
  • So being thorough pays off, if you want to be among the Top Birds!

Why is the payment in Euros? How can I receive other currencies?

  • Testbirds works with the currency Euro (€), but don’t worry you’ll still be able to use your payment in your local currency.
  • The payment value which is displayed in your local currency is based on a recent exchange rate but please keep in mind that it is only an estimate of what you will receive.
  • The real payment amount, however, will depend on the exchange rate on the day of the payment as well as on PayPal or your bank (e.g. if they charge a conversion fee), because thry always transfer money in Euros.
How am I going to receive my payment?
  • If you live in a country that’s part of the Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA) they pay you directly to your bank account (via IBAN/SWIFT) or PayPal.
  • Countries in the SEPA are mostly in the EU and EEA; you can check if you’re in the SEPA here
  • Many of testers are using a service called "Wirecard Bank" or Payoneer´s Global Payments Service to get an IBAN account outside the SEPA.
  • If you can't receive money via an IBAN, they will pay you via PayPal.
  • In some countries (e.g. Nigeria, Turkey, Ukraine, Macedonia, Montenegro) PayPal is restricted: you can pay with it, but you can't receive money.
  • In those cases, don't hesitate to contact Testbirds.com support once you have earned money testing and want to request a payment to discuss additional options.
  • Please be aware that when you are using PayPal, you have to pay a fee to PayPal as the receiver of the payment (This is deducted directly by PayPal).
  • Once you have an account balance equivalent to 10€, you can request a payout in the Nest.
  • For security reasons, there is a buffer of 48 hours, i.e. only amounts that are approved more than two days ago will be considered for a payout and you can do a new payout only once every 48 hours.
  • All the necessary information (e.g. payment details, PayPal address, tax number, if necessary) can only be entered when you make a withdrawal.
  • The information given in the payout section will be saved for future payouts, but you can also change it prior to each disbursement.
  • After requesting a payout, you can download your credit voucher as a PDF document from the "Payments" section.
  • However, for this, your complete contact information, such as name and address, must be made available.
  • Only if this is the case, can your payment be made.
  • Even though their system will try to adapt the displayed payments to your local currency, you will sometimes see payments specified in euros (€).
  • The amounts in your local currency are only an indicator, using a recent exchange rate.
  • The actual amount you receive corresponds to a fixed amount in Euros: They always send money in Euros and the conversion rate will depend on your bank or the PayPal exchange rate.
  • Some banks may charge a fee for converting Euros.
  • Payday is in the middle and at the end of each month.
  • If you request a payment before the 26th of the month, you will usually get it in the first week of the next month latest. Or even faster.
  • Bank transfers can take a few days longer than PayPal. It is therefore not usual, if payments take 20 days sometimes.
