New York City is suing five major oil companies, claiming they contributed to climate change.
Here was the response of the oil companies according to the Chicago Tribune:
'A BP spokesman declined comment. A Shell spokesman said climate change is a complex issue that should not be addressed by the courts. The other three did not immediately comment.'
As a solar energy social entrepreneur, it is maddening to hear people continue to claim that climate change is a 'complex issue.' While it's true that climate change causes complex problems, it is not a complex issue.
Assuming the climate change is created by humans, we know exactly how to stop it, and it's quite simple:
- Renewable energy--particularly solar.
- Stop eating animals and the things that come out of them.
The problem with this simple solution is that it means each person can actually do something about it.
Changing habits is difficult, but it's not complex.
