Cambridge Analytica planned to raise funds by issuing a digital currency before revealing its involvement in the Facebook data abuse scandal, sources close to the case told Reuters on April 17.

The sources indicate that Cambridge Analytica has consulted a company that provides business advice on how to create digital currency offers. Although it is unclear whether the data analytics consulting firm is still looking for plans to launch a digital currency, a Reuters spokesman said the company was considering using Blockchain to secure data on the Internet:

Cambridge Analytica worked on US President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and has been extensively scrutinized after it was reported that the company had unauthorized access to Facebook user data. The sources said the company has collected private information from the profiles of more than 50 million users. Both the US Congress and the British Parliament met with Chief Executive Alexander Knicks on the company's activities.

Digital currency offerings are a popular way for companies to raise capital. This year, Telegram's popular messaging service, Telegram, has raised $ 850 million in the second round of the digital currency offering to support the development of the Tilgram messaging application and its BlockCenter platform, Tilgram Open
