The rest day.

Today I'm hungover! Today I'm tired from surfing. I took the very hard decision to take a day out of the water and rejuvenate. My buddy elected to surf and of course he came back saying conditions were perfect and that I missed out on a super session - wanker!

Funny thing was though that he broke his leash keeper the same as I did yesterday and spent and hour negotiating the strong surf conditions back to the shore to retrieve the board. His board suffered some minimal damage the same as mine yesterday and he was uninjured. It's hilarious really because yesterday he gave me shit for not tying the string correctly. HA! Anyway we both failed and here's a little video that carefully outlines the way to tie the keeper if anyone cares....:)

Today is our last day and I may gather some energy for an afternoon surf if the wind stays light. I'm feeling a little guilty that I have not surfed on potentially one of the best days! Tomorrow we head to Jakarta to catch a 7pm flight to Bali. We have 2 weeks in Bali and then back to the harsh grinding reality of work. Im back to Phuket and my bro has to fly to Finland for a few months. Here's a lovely photo of Sawarna that is from a new angle....

No surf trip to Indonesia is complete without spending some of the time in Bali (in my humble opinion). Bali is where it all started and it still kind of reigns supreme on the global surf map. The waves on the Bukit Peninsular are just off the charts for quality and consistency. But of course we need to throw in crowds to the mix. Thats what is so great about this little farway gem - we had the waves to ourselves every day. In surfing that is priceless. Bali will be challenging after here, dealing with crowds and many other surfers will be far better than us making it harder and harder to score waves. Look at this amazing wave - it's called Padang Padang and its jaw dropping how beautiful it is!

But anyway Bali is not all about crowds. I know a few spots that take a little extra effort to get to but the rewards are there for the taking. If you want to escape the crowds in Bali the best thing is to take a boat to some of the outer reefs - that immediately eliminates 80% of the crowds. The next thing is to start before dawn. Hard but true. Anyway our time here is coming to an end. The decision now is should I surf this afternoon or complete my proper rest day!

I'm Jobiker and I'm feeling lazy today! Peace
