Review: Gouache Pallet

in review •  yesterday

I really want to get into painting again

...and I've always been fascinated by gouache paintings. So, for my mental health and just to start a new hobby, I decided to buy myself a gouache pallet! This pallet was £19.79 which is about 108.85 STEEM.

I chose this specific pallet as it has 36 colours, and came with paintbrushes and a surface to mix colours on.

Gouache paint is water-based, and it's meant to be opaque (slightly transparent). I've seen many painters use it as a layering paint, starting from their backing colour and then building up to the final finished painting. In some ways, it is similar to watercolour. I've never used gouache before so hopefully I'll be good haha.

the case

The paints are in-cased in a lovely light blue box, it also came in a pink but I preferred the blue!

the bottom of the box

This is the base of the box, and you can see that it has the indents of the paint boxes? Not sure how to describe it fully.

what it came with

So inside the box it has the pallet (one to mix colours on) and it came with three different brushes! This was good for me as I have no paintbrushes and they fit into the box, so I can store it away all together.

The brushes

Not sure if it's visible, but the brushes have different thicknesses, which makes it a perfect set.

The paints

The gouache paint pots came individually sealed, and it's best to try keep the seals on until you start using them, and then securing the pots shut to prolong the pallet's life.

I haven't opened them for this post as I am planning to show in a future post the pots opened and a (hopefully) good painting that I would do with it!!

Hope you like it!

Look forward to seeing what you paint @jen0revision !

Oh wow, this set looks lovely!

That's really good that the set came with some brushes, I feel like most don't do that!

Such a good choice of colours to use too- looking forward to seeing what you create with them!
