Review of the film "Captive State" (2019)

The world premiere of the film "Battle for Earth", created by American filmmakers in the genre of drama and fantasy Thriller, took place on March 15, 2019. Russian viewers were able to see it for the first time on June 27 of the same year. And the picture can be viewed on sites that provide services for viewing movies online.

I, as a big fan of fiction, try not to pass by any of the films with this genre. Especially if the film has such a loud name. Naturally, based on this name, it was possible to count on the presence in the plot of this film scenes of battles with insidious aliens who arrived on our planet in order to enslave it. Well, or at least, to see how actively struggle against the oppressors of the brave members of the resistance.

But, unfortunately, you will not see any of this here. Even aliens plainly can not see. It turns out that the whole film is a struggle between those earthlings who bowed to the space invaders and serve them faithfully, and a small group of people who are eager to regain their freedom. But they do it sluggishly, without a twinkle or a hitch, as if they are just doing routine work.

It is a pity that in this film it is not even really told how, how the aliens managed to conquer our planet so quickly and almost without any resistance and establish a new order on it, which, like, is not bad, at least, so the filmmakers tried to present it, but to me the world in it seemed like a prison camp, only larger.

And how else can you interpret the fact that every inhabitant of the planet implanted chip on which it can be traced at any time, and if there is a suspicion that he is up to something, grab it, then it will disappear in an unknown direction... It is equally unclear where the representatives of local authorities who have served before the invaders disappear.

In principle, the development of the plot is quite consistent with the official, real title of the film, which in normal translation sounds like "Captive State", but not " the Battle for Earth." Thanks to this publicity stunt, many of the audience went to the cinema, or, like me, sat in front of TV screens or computer monitors in anticipation of the miracle, and received... what we got is a gray, boring, forgettable movie for once that can serve as a backdrop while doing some household chores.

John Goodman, Vera Farmiga, Ashton Sanders, Jonathan Majors, Kevin Dunn, James Ranson and other actors who starred in this film, in principle, did a good job with their roles. The plot develops quite dynamically, but predictably, there is no zest in it that would make the film unforgettable.

Do I recommend watching it? Why not? To pass the evening, if you do not have other, more interesting, plans, this film is quite suitable.
