Inhumans Episode 7: 'Havoc in the Hidden Land' Review

Finally! Inhumans gives us an exciting episode!

With plenty of surprises, great character work, cool action/power scenes and breathtaking suspense, 'Havoc in the Hidden Land' is by far Inhumans best episode yet! This is what the show should have been from the very start. And it is havoc, as the royal family returns to Attilan at last.

After Gorgon's death, tempers are running high, especially in Karnak his closest cousin, and Black Bolt, who has been gunning for Maximus' head since the last episode. Easily catching up to Maximus' escaping soldiers, the entire royal family decides to return united, and give Maximus a chance to parley... offering him what they now know he wants --a second terrigenesis engineered through the help of Dr. Declan in exchange for the throne. Crystal and Lockjaw deliver the message and drop off the soldiers as a sign of good faith, and returns to Earth to wait.
This, however, isn't the end of Black Bolt's plan. In a surprise move, he takes them to the edge of the island and reveals that he not only knew part of Maximus' plan, but had faked Triton's death to give them an advantage and convince the despot he had been winning from the start. Then he teleports them all, including Dr. Declan, to a place only he knew existed: the royal bunker in Attilan, stocked with food and weapons. Medusa gets angry at all this --her husband had been deceiving her all along, and never shared his true plans! But still, she remains the voice of constraint, the only one who speaks in favor of Maximus keeping his life.

The parley goes badly. Showing cunning very befitting of him, Maximus crosses them and seizes Dr. Declan, declaring that he's saving him from them while declining to give up the throne. Angered, Black Bolt returns to the bunker and activates plan B, sending Triton to undermine the impostor. Karnak studies Declan's plan and sees a flaw and a plan --something that, through secondary terrigenesis, could bring Gorgon back, but Black Bolt and Medusa disagree. According to legend, it's far too dangerous. But Karnak, much changed from his time on Earth, goes ahead with it, enlisting the help of Maximus' chief royal guard Auran who regenerates and resurrects herself, and who has lost faith in Maximus. Together, they put the lifeless form of Gorgon through terrigenesis again. Unfortunately, it doesn't work and Gorgon remains dead.

Meanwhile, with Declan's help, Maximus prepares to go through terrigenesis again, having chosen the abilities he wanted and inserting the markers into his dna. But before the process can begin, explosions begin to rock the chambers. His guard try to quickly return him to his rooms, leaving Declan there, but Triton attacks and kills them and takes Maximus to Black Bolt, who had solemnly promised to kill him if he ever saw him again. Here, Maximus reveals that he had rigged the city's protective dome to fail if he died, and since he's the only one who can stop it, Black Bolt cannot kill him.

In another part of Attilan, in the terrigenesis chambers where Declan waits, the dead Gorgon suddenly reawakens, looking angry and murderous...
