Hey everyone!
Today I have yet another great game I want to review and it's a little different than the games I usually do.

The game is Aven Colony and it's a strategy game. It was developed by Mothership Entertainment and was released on the 25th of July.
I used to play a lot of RTS and also TBS stategy games when I was younger ranging from Command & Conquer to Heroes of Might and Magic. Lately it's been mostly FPS games and I have to say I honestly kind of miss the old times. Sitting with friends at your computer playing "Heroes" in Hot-Seat mode. That game was awesome and the second game that was released of the series was actually the start of my gaming.
But back to the game I wanted to talk about. It's actually sci-fi themed which is also unusual for my taste. The game has an interesting story and you get to build a new human city on this planet called Aven Prime. It's a planet that's light years away from earth while you start to build you new colony, you have to oversee construction, resources and of course the people that you are trying to help survive. Construction means building these beautiful buildings with drones that do all the work. Resources like in any strategy game means that you have to look out for food, water, electricity and other things you need for example to build things.
One thing that immediately struck me was the beautiful graphics the game offers. It has a large variety of buildings and defense systems. You can have farms on this planet and even mine(not coins, lol)for minerals but all of the buildings have to be connected by air-sealed tunnels. As you progress in the game you have the option to start researching and even trading with foreign traders.
New people start coming in and you population starts growing while you are completing challenges. You have to build housing for the people and there are sky scrapers that they can live in. They actually look really cool too. Almost all of the buildings can be upgraded to different levels and everything starts to progress.
In the game, day and night are not like we know it. It changes drastically and during the night everything freezes over so no food will grow for you and the solar panels stop generating electricity. You can however save up these resources in the Spring/Summer time so that you have enough in the winter.
Your colony has to deal with a lot on the planet including storms, toxic gas , "shard storms" and the alien that you can see above. So it kind of reminds you of other similar city-building games like "Cities:Skylines" and "SimCity" for example with the disasters. But it still has you feeling like your playing something new so I liked that about the game.
It also offers you different game modes to play and also different planets. You can build your cities on these and create a huge society.
I really liked the game and if I had time I probably would have played it a lot more. However I ended up playing sandbox mode and just trying everything out so that kind of spoils the game in my opinion. I do think you should try it out if you like strategy games and are a fan of sci-fi.
You can get the game from the Steam Store and it costs 29,99€.
I hope you're all having a great week and I hope you like my review! As I mentioned earlier in a post I will be having a contest soon for my followers so stay tuned for that and remember to follow if you haven't yet.
Peace out, Strawhat
Looks really cool! Makes me want to try it although I've lately haven't had the patience to get into these sort of games and learn the basics. :P

That game does look, and sound interesting. As I've gotten older I'm not as much into games as I once was, but I think I could use the relaxation, as well as escapism. This whole 'reality' thing is about to get the best of me. lol
Thanks for your post.

very good article. indeed I still feel not too easy to be always positive-minded. usually because there is an unpleasant experience or less good with it.

Oh, wow. I've never been too heavy into RTS's but maybe I'll have to check this one out. It's definitely one of the best looking RTS games I've ever seen at the very least, lol.

Yeah it' pretty cool. Although there are no battles like in command & conquer or warcraft. It's more of a city building game. It looks great though :)

Yeah, it looks gorgeous. I'm just not too heavy into strategy games because I tend to suck at them, haha. I played a fair amount of Civilization 5 (I know it's turn based strategy so not quite the same), and I got mad with that game quite a bit and just ended up uninstalling it, lol. I'm just typically better at shooter and RPG's than anything, so I stick with those :P
