Please help us show off Steem's potential in our community by supporting our quest to raise funds to reimburse the band boosters for one band member's travel from Pennsylvania to Florida for this year's Citrus Bowl Parade.
Introduction
We've seen many of the same players on the Coatesville team (ranked 2nd in the state of Pennsylvania) since middle school, so the 31-14 half time score wasn't much of a surprise. We knew all along that it would be a tough game for Rustin. Coatesville, with its 3-0 record at the time, is in PIAA class 6A for schools with 561 or more male students. With 498 male students, Rustin is in the 5A class, so fortunately losing to Coatesville wouldn't impact 62nd ranked Rustin's undefeated conference record.

One of the creative aspects of Rustin's band program is that students from local elementary and middle schools are sometimes invited to perform with the high school band. The Coatesville game was the night when the 8th graders visited from Stetson Middle School. With the band's successful half time performance, it is probably safe to say that on this night, the musicians were having more fun than the team.
We already posted a photo essay from the Coatesville Pregame Show. This post will document the Rustin Band's halftime show, and an upcoming post will document the stands experience. Unless otherwise stated, all pictures are original photos that were taken on an LG-G4 cell phone. You can right click any photo and open in a new tab for a better view.
We are in luck this week, because some other band parents with far superior photography skills also posted some photos in the Band Booster's Facebook page.

After a few joint selections with the high school and middle school musicians performing together, the visiting dignitaries left the field and the marching band performed its now-familiar show.
Drum Major
I'm getting better at remembering to be ready for the drum majors when they turn towards the audience.

As we've noted in previous posts, an uncommon feature of this year's show is the inclusion of a bassoon, pictured on the right. The bassoonist plays saxophone in the stands.
Flags
The band's show is a portrayal of the epic challenge for an adventurer to reach the summit of mount Everest. If I'm not mistaken, this may have been the first week that the white flags were symbolically planted into the summit.

Conclusion
Thank you for taking the time to view this post and for supporting the Rustin Golden Knights Marching Band.
At the end of the night, Coatesville continued on the way to their current 8-0 record, but Rustin played respectably, and the band and cheerleaders did a great job keeping the audience happy despite the game outcome. We are looking forward to seeing a bunch of these visiting 8th graders in uniform next year!
The @rgkmb-unofficial account is an experimental account that is operated by Steve Palmer (@remlaps). The account's purpose is to demonstrate the viability of a fund-raising model that is based on use of the Steem block chain in the community. The account's goal for 2018 is to raise enough money to send one student on the Rustin Golden Knight Marching Band's trip from Pennsylvania to Florida in December for performances in the Citrus Parade and in Disney.
