Rickysphotochallenge Week 24 Entry - Xmas Special

Yeah...this looks quite different. Right? I know. That is called Semo and 'Egusi' soup because the main ingredient in the soup are Melon and Ugwu (fluted pumpkin leaves). Egusi is Melon in English (so you can call the soup 'melon soup'). I would have gone into the preparation of the soup but that will be for another post. Inside that soup you will see 'Orisirisi' (meaning Varieties). There are crayfish, frozen fish, meat, cow's lung etc. Christmas or any festival or celebration is never complete if a dish with Egusi Soup is not served. It is loved by almost all Nigerians and people from neighbouring countries.

And that big lump or swallow in our pidgin english is called Semovita. It was made from wheat powder. The process of turning the wheat powder into a big lump like that is by pouring the powder into boiling water and stirring until it becomes smooth, thick and consistent.

I am not a photographer, I took the picture with my phone and it was in the night.

Hope you are all having a wonder Christmas celebration.

Thank you for reading and happy great steeming year ahead.
