The first christians: He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people

The book of the Acts of the Apostles describes to us how was the life of the first christians. The good news was first preached among the Jews, and then, with the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4) and the birth of the early church, the Kingdom of God spread among the God-fearing pagans. For the disciples, the parables of Jesus were no longer simple stories or fables but a reality that began to make sense, the Kingdom of God is not simply an ethical doctrine, but also the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
And a notable case among the first gentiles converted to the christian faith, was the centurion Cornelius. In this Roman soldier a teaching of the apostle Peter was fulfilled: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right" Acts 10:34-35.
Cornelius had received a visit from an angel who ordered him to look for the apostle Peter, and while this was happening the apostle had a mysterious vision whose meaning he could not immediately understand. This vision that Peter received was of great importance because through it the apostle understood that the pagans should not submit to the Jewish law to enter the church. The nascent Christian religion was beginning to separate from the Jewish faith.
It is so that some servants of Cornelius went to look for Peter in Joppa, and when they found him they told Peter about his employer: "He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people" Acts 10:22.
And it was so that Peter met Cornelius in his house, and the holy spirit descended on the pagans, astonishing Peter and those who came with him. The gift of fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion) fructified in the first believers with numerous gifts thus fulfilling an important teaching: "Be holy, because I am holy" 1 Peter 1:16.
