Perfecting Holiness: For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?, 2 Corinthians 6:14

To be heirs of the promises of the Beatitudes, we must seek holiness and avoid falling into the danger of the teaching of the error (heresies), that is, what contaminates our soul: "Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.", 2 Corinthians 7:1.
The pagans, Paul warns us, are a source of heresies such as idolatry, in particular the love of money. Those who want to follow the correct path must have constancy and firmness in faith, avoiding improper relationships with those who practice error: "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ´I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people´", 2 Corinthians 6:14-16.

When we accept heresies as truths, our path is opposed to the designs of God and the mind is filled with impure thoughts and it is there where we begin to behave like true madmen, because reason always looks to the good. Jesus gives us some examples of heresies: "Love your neighbor and hate your enemy", Matthew 5:43; "Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth", Matthew 5:38.
Those who follow the path of Jesus must always be willing to teach with kindness, and to reject all those teachings and examples that lead us away from the path of mercy, of piety, of perseverance, of wisdom.
