ok so I bought some Ripple...now what?

I don't live in NY... but I'm curious as to what additional hoops you would have to jump through to purchase it. I started buying it up at the beginning of 2017, but I didn't give my address out to obtain it.

it seems that many of the big exchanges - Kraken, Poly, bitfinix, Shapeshift - are not licensed in NY and though you may be able to bypass this, if at some point authentication is required, I have heard it is possible that your accounts or trades won't be accepted. As I am new to this, I didn't want to deal with any issues like that, so it basically came down to finding a wallet for Ripple, then using bitcoin from Coinbase to buy Ripple on Changelly, which ended up being pretty painless, though it took a while and I made a few mistakes along the way lol

Ohhhh I see what you're saying.... the only reason that you need to go through the authentication process is (typically) to link up your bank account so you can make direct deposits/purchases. This would prevent you from needing to purchase through Coinbase and then using BTC to make an alt coin purchase.

But like you said... Coinbase --> Changelly --> XRP Wallet is pretty painless. The only downside to this is the additional fees that you have to pay. You're really paying a fee to make the BTC purchase, paying a fee to send it to Changelly, and paying a fee for Changelly is actually make the exchange.

First getting started, this isn't a big deal... but as you progress in the volume of trades you're making, you'll want to find a more direct route to purchasing what you're actually after.
