Great information, thank you. Yes a lot of people naysay ripple, and you make a good argument for it the pragmatic value of taking its business moves and price action seriously.
Form a moral standpoint: No, ripple may not fully fulfill the libertarian/anarchist ideal vision! However, that vision is not. NOT. And never has been realized, or even realistic. Therefore, as freedom lovers, we must settle for incremental and compromised improvements. Ripple is of great value in bridging the gap between the idealistic vision and the current reality. They are doing plenty of dirty work, in making alliances with the real world, and popularizing blockchain tech. This will pave the road for more radical libertarian projects.
