Having Role Models

in rolemodels •  7 years ago

A wise woman once said to me, it is good to have role models but it is important not to copy all that they do, we should learn to pick out the good side out of every person and leave the bad side.

When you emulate a person’s character, do not do all that the person does totally because there is usually a good and bad side of a person and the only side that they display for everyone to see is the good side, so instead of you to investigate their actions and words, you then begin to do all that they say and do.

Imagine you have a good business man has your role model and you think that all he does and says is right without doing any proper investigation, then you follow an advise he gives and the business you have been trying to build for a long time begins to fail, you then begin to regret why you did not investigate the matter properly before taking actions.

We need to learn and accept the fact that role models are not saints and they as well have their flaws and as well sides they are trying to improve on, so trying to emulate their good and bad sides is not healthy for us as humans.

It is however really important that we have good role models who can help guide and direct and whom we can follow after.
