With Rosin being the way to go for many plants consumers, being the safest way to extract it, perhaps the next best thing to do now is to find a way to have a constant supply of it. And if you prefer rosin as your medium for consumption, you’d want to have a good supply, especially if you prefer a particular strain. That’s why many turn to a rosin press and consider it a good investment.

With the advent of rosin, more companies are offering affordable solutions. Add to that the relaxed regulations in growing plants at home. So if you’re a home grower, and want rosin whenever you want it, it makes sense to get your own rosin press.

What is a Rosin Press?

If you are new to what a rosin press is, in the simplest terms it is a machine that uses heat and pressure combined to extract cannabinoids from the plants themselves. 2 Plates heated to a particular temperature are pressed together under pressure to extract the material from the plants without the use of dangerous chemicals that act as a solvent.

Rosin presses allow you to process plants extracts without the use of dangerous solvents and create a purer final product that rivals traditional hydrocarbon extracts. This has recently made the rosin press a popular choice for making dabs, or oil for vaping with its simplicity and safer consumption.

There are many styles of rosin presses for sale, from mini rosin presses to DIY presses made from a hair straightener. Some will yield better than others with many considerations from price, heat, and pressure.

How To Press Rosin

Before you start pressing rosin, you should ensure that you have the following essentials

Materials to use for the extraction process
Use high quality and fresh buds to achieve good yield and flavor

Micron bags
The best micron bags will help in the production of high-quality rosin. The bags come with different microns ranging from 20 to above 150. You get better quality rosin with fewer smaller microns.

Correct humidity
Do not use very dry buds, as they will not give you quality rosin.

Allowed temperature
Temperature is one of the most crucial factors to consider when pressing. Choose the desired temperature that will give you quality rosin.

Allowed extraction pressure
The pressure is also another significant factor when extracting. Do not use too much pressure to avoid overkilling the buds.

The best psi
Psi ranges from 300 to 1500, and it depends on the tons of pressing power.

Method
After selecting your materials, fill in the rosin filter bag. Prepare parchment paper to collect your rosin and set up the press machine. Plug in the heaters and set the temperatures that you desire. After the press heats up, place the bag with the material between the heated plates and close the plates.

Press the plates gradually until you achieve the desired pressure. The resin starts to melt after a few minutes, and you begin to get your low of rosin. The whole exercise rakes between 5 and 10 minutes. After you finish, release the pressure and open the plates.

Retrieve that parchment paper and your rosin. Wait for the rosin to solidify by cooling it. After it is cold, scrape it off the parchment paper and put it into a silicone pot or a glass jar, store the final product in the fridge to preserve the flavors.

Conclusion

Getting started with rosin extracts won’t really cost that much, given the different price points for each rosin press. And given the benefits from using rosin, it gets more encouraging to start extracting at home. In fact, the rosin presses listed here are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the machines available in the market.

It’s because of the demand that technology was able to catch up to offer home solutions for rosin extraction. With that said, you should be able to make an informed decision when choosing a rosin press.
