Most of us here are gonna know the name Ross Ulbricht.
Maybe, one day, in the future, when utopia begins to rear it's beautiful head, we will get a full accounting of the wrongs done in the name of 'Just Us'.
Justice, in the United Snakes, is not what you think it is.
Any questions why they require many years of sitting still, doing what you are told, parroting back what the lead parrot squawked in order to get the cracker?
If you have never been through a day in court, I highly recommend that you just go spend a day watching the people.
Some of them come in with the highest of hopes, they have a good excuse for rolling through the stop sign, other than it's just what we do here, and they are convinced that the judge is reasonable and fair.
I must have seen a dozen of them waiting for my turn.
I tend to be disruptive in court, so I usually get to go last.
It's a rep I don't mind, it gets me 'special' treatment.
If you want special treatment, learn the questions, learn when to ask them, learn who to appeal this criminal chump in front of you's ruling to, and hope the next guy isn't a criminal, too.
(Mostly they will be expert at dodging questions.)
Stand up and take one for the team.
Do the time, pay no fines.
As I watched those people leave, they no longer had the look of hopeful optimism that had served them so well in life within the rules.
It had turned to despair at knowing that they now had to give up something in order to pay the fine.
They had tried telling the judge that it was all an innocent mistake.
That nobody was harmed.
Nobody asked if they could get off with a warning, so they were all found guilty and fined.
Those that could pay today got to leave, those that couldn't pay today left, but with a warrant, and more trouble, coming for not paying.
It's all just a game that we willingly play by the rules as we learn them.
'It's just what 'good' people do.'
If the facts presented in this case don't make you want to rise up and give Ross some real 'Just Us' then maybe you need to go back to sleep with the blue pill.
Knowing that this is what passes as 'Justice' in the United Snakes, as we see time and time again, why do we agree to this crap?
