Royal Bot Reviews: @Boomerang - A cautionary piece of advice

Total Vote Value: This number floats on this bot by more than 30SBD so check before you bid.
Currently take <= 2.5 day bids on either comments or posts.
Requires a minimum bid of 1.5 SDB or Steem.
**THIS BOT HAS A 3 HOUR AUCTION ROUNDS BUT BOTTRACKERS FOLLOWS THE NORM 2.4 HOURS, SO THIS AUCTION ENDS AFTER THE TIMER RUNS OUT ** This is noted on their steemit profile but not on bottrackers.

I did not read about the @boomerang bot before I used it. This is what I thought was the end of the auction at 8:31PM.
Notice that the total bids at this time were 84.36 SBD.

As you will notice in the picture above the auction actually ended ~20 mins after the countdown timer hit 0.
Also another 3 SBD in bids were taken so that total bids amount was 87.37.

Here is one picture with all 3 pieces of info together so we can compare some numbers.
You will notice in the next picture that I have crossed off the USD so as to not confuse us when we do our analysis.

3.71 X 0.75 = 2.7825 back to me in author rewards
2.825 X 0.5 = 1.39 SBD
1.39/6.52=.21319 Steem at the time this bid was made. Steembot trackers puts the current price right on the app.

A few notes here:
bottrackers says, circled in red above, that I should be getting a 1.8 SBD vote for this... this number doesn't match any of our work. So don't rely on this number to be accurate.
If we look at the ROI circled in blue it says we received a -9.75 ROI for this bid.
100-9.5= 90.25% of original value should be the value we get back after curation.

1.5 X 0.9025 = 1.35 SBD estimated by bottracker back for our 1.5 bid.
We got back 1.39 SBD so the number circled in blue above is the closest to accurate for this bot.

I decided to give Boomerang another go around today 1/27/2018.

Here is my comparison picture. I put all the info into one picture to save my bandwidth issues I have been having all day. But I do have all the originals saved if someone wants a peek.

Let’s explore the SBD payback. My bid says I was supposed to get 2.06SBD after curation.
At the moment I am scheduled to receive 3. 76 of the vote but only 1.8825 of that will come back in SBD. So I have no idea where they are getting this 2.06 SBD circled in purple.

Circled in red we see the discrepancy in SBD payout between what I will actually get paid and what they tell me my ROI should be. When I use the ROI they provide at 2.47 % after curation and multiply that by my original bid I get 1.537 instead of the 1.8825

Circled in Yellow are the discrepancies in the ROI. They are saying I will only get a 2.47% ROI. I calculated actual ROI to be 25.5% with current vote weights.

Circled in brown you will see the percentage of the vote I bid and on bottom the percentage of the vote I received.

Conclusion: Although I got a decent ROI this round, I will not be using this bot again. None of the numbers provided, by boomerang to Steembottrackers, give me any useful information to bid on this bot and what the outcome might be.

Positives: You can have @boomerang upvote a comment and they are supposed to return invalid bids, I haven't tried this yet. This bot has over a 100 SBD vote so it can handle multiple customers.

Negatives: THIS BOT HAS 3 HOUR AUCTION ROUNDS BUT BOTTRACKERS FOLLOWS THE NORM 2.4 HOURS, SO THIS AUCTION ENDS AFTER THE TIMER RUNS OUT As the auction is every 3 hours instead of every 2.4 more bidders can pile in after bottrackers says the auction is closed. This service is super popular and not many people know that the auction rounds are every 3 hours instead of 2.4 so this one is frequently a -ROI.

Fine print:
This information was accurate at time of posting, but there is a possibility that the bot owner has changed their code in between when I wrote this and you read it. I will try to keep these up to date but do your diligence before bidding.
I will give you the caution that whenever you use bid-bots you should be prepared to loose part of your investment as people can vote after you and bring your share of the rewards pool down. Always check how the bot performed last round, compare it to how they paid out before you bid and be prepared to potentially loose your investment.
