Day 22; Which non-dice mechanic appeals to you?
Character creation, outside of the obvious dice mechanic of rolling for stats.
I recently joined a game on Thursdays and got to set up for one on Saturday mornings and there is just so much joy in getting to create a character. Once the base stats are out of the way I like to start with the race and background as those don't scale with level and just determine some base stuff and then move on to class because that does give stuff as the characters level up.
I think a lot of DM's like me as well because I go through and find a picture reference (or make one using various generators) but also fill in a general description, fill out all the fun stuff like height and age and weight, and even give my characters detailed backgrounds. If there's items that are important to them for some reason I also put those in the little 'treasures' section. Doing this gives the DM's knowledge of my character beyond the surface so that they can make the game more personalized and have my characters actually have things that matter at stake for them.
I have so many characters in my roll20 character vault, honestly, and it's really fun because I just love creating them from the variety of not only official but homebrew stuff as well, where the DM allows for it, so I have a character for just about any situation and party make up :D
