It seems to be a neglected protocol as most people just use social media these days, but I still follow a lot of blogs using Feedly (previously used Google Reader). I've done that for many years. There are lots of good tools to manage your feeds. Many people just don't maintain their own blog site these days. I've run a few, but am mostly using Steemit these days.

RSS (resp. its successor Atom) is extremely useful, in fact it's the only practical way to stay up-to-date with multiple news sources. The only reason it's not more popular is that it isn't more popular, i.e. people just don't know about it, meaning that they might have heard the term, but have no idea of its practical value.

Yes, that was my impression too, but I hadn't thought about the connection to blogs. RSS is of course the blog tool. I will put it on anyway... for the old school nerds :)
