While waiting to turn left at a stoplight into our neighborhood, I made a comment this morning how much traffic there was.
It was surprising to me.
We're not used to being "out and about" during rush hour traffic. But we woke up early this morning to grab breakfast with my family before they fly back this afternoon.
On a normal Monday, my office is within walking distance from our house (it's technically a third floor condo overlooking a local golf course). I can walk there in 10 minutes. That's my "commute."
I'm not a particularly empathic person, but I feel bad for everyone I see in their cars every morning, racing to work. I am thankful that I don't have to participate in that. Starting my day with a leisurely walk is a blessing. One that I've worked to earn.
Remote work definitely has its downsides. It's not always awesome. But the benefits outweigh the costs.
