As someone from the United States, it really seems like we are suffering from one of the situations that broke the back of the Soviet Union - unnecessary military spending. All of that military spending has to be justified somehow, so we continue to view Russia as the Cold War enemy that it was. Unfortunately, recent events have really lit a fire under that belief. So long as cyberwarfare can be conducted in an environment without repercussions, relations between the two countries will continue to sour.
