How YOUR Religious Belief System Cause ALL the World's Ills

It's Sunday, there's a lot of religion around in the Christian world on a Sunday, so a very good day I think to look at religious belief systems and the absolute reason they are responsible for almost all the terrible violence in the world.

So, you believe in God. Your religious poison chalice of choice makes no difference, it's your God and you truly believe. Just for a few seconds imagine how your God looks?

Now, let's say for example my God is a black female, but your God is an Asian looking male, and someone else's God has only one arm.

Now I know that mine is the real God and the other two people's Gods are not real because that's what I believe. Equally, the other two people believe that their God is real and that mine and the other person's God are not real.

Now we immediately have conflict because due to your belief, you cannot accept any other possibility that you are wrong. That is the nature of belief.

Can we all live together in religious harmony, each believing in different Gods? No

There will come a point where your belief is tested, and that you will defend it. Religious people now are already preparing to defend their beliefs, tell me that I'm wrong and they are right. This is further conflict. Conflict will increase.

Perhaps I erect a monument to my wonderful benevolent black lady God. How will you feel ?

You will perhaps come out and look up and feel a bit aggreived that this monument is pertaining to be God, but you know it isn't, you may think I've committed a blasphemous act and you decide to, peacefully of course, alter the statue and knock off an arm. Next day I see this, and I am offended and become angry. It's not just my God that is being attacked but my beliefs.

It's very easy to see how conflict can escalate and end in extreme violence. All because of what is nothing more than a belief system that claims to bring peace to the world.

Now I don't care if you say that you don't let your religious beliefs interfere with anyone elses. You are wrong. Our lives are religious belief led every step of the way. Our morals, ethics and actions are all driven by our religious belief system.

On Steemit today and every day, there are all manner of religions posting and preaching to me that theirs is the one true religion and that everyone else's religion is wrong. They generate conflict.

All wars, acts of terrorism and hatred can be traced back to religion. All of them. Sometimes the link may be not so easy to find, but it will be there. Attempts to control someone's belief system, and if the passive persuasion fails, aggressive persuasion will surely follow.

The world is not fighting a constant battle between good and evil, it's fighting a constant battle between people's belief systems.

And it causes the deaths of millions of humans. Every year.

Are these words my belief system? Am I attempting to push my belief system onto you?

No. Because I have no religious belief system. It is however, an expression of my deeply considered opinion.

Fools and idiots follow blindly, whether that be rules, governments or religions. People with sense, stop for a while. Consider decisions of the past and think about their steps for the future. They also own responsibility for their own actions.

The religious use their religions to shirk any form of personal responsibility for anything as they use their own version of religion to cover the reasons for everything.

Let's look within ourselves and see we are all Gods, we are unique. We are all responsible.

I think that was quite toned down for me ;-) #sacrilegioussunday

Well said. I actually do like some religious teachings simply because they teach us to question the mind and especially all beliefs. The sad thing though is that in practice it is rare the adherent of even those religions who doesn’t become a monster if given enough power or confronted with his own shortcomings.

In the end, we are all egomaniacal humans. We defend our beliefs and self concepts as if we were fighting for our lives because to our psychological self-construct we are!

Thanks @indigoocean (just reading your name makes me smile, its just the coolest name in the world!) I dont deny there are lessons to be learned from religious literature, but these are lessons that would be good in anycase, out of the religious context. The wickedness and nastiness in religious works far outweighs the nice stuff in any case! My hope is that current corms of organised religion will slowly die out over the next couple of centuries, although there is always a concern they maybe replaced by something worse!
Really appreciate you dropping in and taking the time to comment, sincerely appreciated.
Hope you've had a great weekend and best wishes to you and your loved ones :-)
