Learn how to download your audio or video feeds as MP4 files in this post, so you may use an external video editor to modify them or upload them to another location. Please take note that viewers will be able to download the video straight from the Panopto Viewer if downloading is enabled. Please visit How to Download a Session as an MP4 to find out more.
1. Download the video in MP4.
1.1. Hover your cursor over the video in the video collection and choose Settings (Fig. 1a). You can choose the settings icon (a cogwheel) in the upper-right corner of the editor (Fig. 1b).
1.2. From the left-hand navigation in the Settings window, choose the Outputs tab (Fig. 2).
1.3. You will find drop-down menus to modify the type and quality of the video podcast beneath the Video Podcast section. mp4 (Figure 3). These settings, which are described below, determine the kind of video you download. Note: The video podcast will reprocess if the podcast type or quality is changed. It won't be available for download right now. The duration of the video determines how long it will take to process. In order to support users with sluggish or unreliable internet connections, Panopto may also re-encode a video at a different resolution.
Type
Primary Video Only: The speaker's video stream is usually the primary video, and it is the only one you will get.
Secondary Video Only: The only video that you will get is the one that is being shown in the secondary stream, which is usually a screen grab, a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation, or a video from another camera. There will be audio from the speaker.
Picture-in-Picture: The standard kind. The main video will be in the lower right corner of the downloaded file, with the secondary video taking center stage.
Side-by-side: This will display the main stream alongside the secondary stream.
Tile All Streams: This will create a single video that incorporates all of the streams. The number of streams that were recorded will determine how big the tiles automatically get.
Quality: You have a choice of 576p to 1080p video quality settings. It is not necessary to download your video at 1080p if it was recorded at 720p; doing so will not improve its quality.
1.4. Click Apply (Fig. 4) after adjusting your video podcast choices.
1.5 It will take a short while for the video podcast to load. The message Podcast not ready: Queued may appear, indicating that processing of the new podcast type and quality setting is ongoing (Fig. 5). Note that while it is processing, you won't be able to download the audio and video podcasts.
1.6. The option to download a podcast will show up after the video has finished processing (Fig. 6). To download the video in mp4 format, select this.
Note that in order to see this option, you might need to reload the page.
2. Get the MP4 audio file.
2.1. To obtain the audio for your video in an.mp4 format, scroll down to the Audio Podcast section on the Outputs page, which can be accessed via steps 1.1–1.2 above, and choose Download Audio Podcast (Fig. 7).
