What I am about to tell you about is probably one of the least mentioned ways to increase prosperity, abundance and even happiness in our lives. If you truly believe that God is the source of your supply then you must do something definite and consistent to keep that rich source flowing.

Tithing is giving of one of a tenth of your income to God's church and it is also a commandment from the old testament. malachi 3: 10 says "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it"

Tithing is one way to worship God to honor Him as your provider and remind yourself that all of your resources belong to Him and are provided through His grace. As you give away that first 10% of your income, you set your course to honor God in the way you handle the rest of your finances.

We always ask to be blessed with the best houses, clothes, money, jobs, spouses, health and so on for ourselves and others and we want it all for free. • Grow in the Fear of the Lord
  The practice of tithing provides a regular reminder of your dependence on God. Tithing helps you remember that God is the source of all blessings, and it allows you to demonstrate your gratitude for His care, his genuine love and trust towards us. Tithing at times is hard since you have personal requirements but plainly God knows all your requirements and he knows how you will get them.
  In Deuteronomy 14:22–23, God instructed the Israelites: “ Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine, and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always.” Whatever your current situation, tithing is a key to learning to live in the fear of God.

• Store Up Treasure in Heaven
  As Christians, we are challenged to set our hearts on what truly matters, not on the valueless things of the earth. Jesus challenged His disciples, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”
  The honest truth is if you are a Christian and you are not tithing then you will not see heaven.

Giving a tithe and giving beyond the tithe are ways that you can honor God and reach out to meet the needs of others. “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
